As we begin 2025, Foundation For Pops reflects on a remarkable year filled with service, community impact, and new beginnings. From expanding our reach with a new office to helping veterans in crisis, every milestone this year has brought us closer to our mission of supporting those in need. Let’s take a brief look at our 2024 recap:
Key Highlights of 2024
- New Office in Melvindale, MI
One of the most significant moments of the year was the opening of our new office in Melvindale. This expansion was more than just a new location—it was an opportunity to increase our capacity to serve veterans and individuals experiencing homelessness. Within 24 hours of opening, we provided emergency shelter to a Navy veteran who had been homeless for a month, reaffirming our commitment to immediate and compassionate action. - “Take a Walk in My Shoes” Event
In September, we hosted our “Take a Walk in My Shoes” event at Eastern Market’s Shed 3. Partnering with Wayne Mobile Health Unit, Wayne State Veterans Upward Bound, and other community organizations, we offered essential resources, including new or lightly-worn shoes, medical checkups, hot meals, and workforce placement opportunities. With over 150 pairs of shoes and numerous care packages distributed, the event was a success in supporting veterans and individuals facing homelessness. - “Swing for Change” Golf Outing: Our first-ever “Swing For Change” golf outing was a huge success, bringing together supporters for a day of fun, networking, and fundraising. Proceeds from the event went directly toward our veteran support programs, helping us continue to provide essential resources.
- Financial Capability Workshops
Throughout the year, we continued to empower participants with our Financial Capability Workshops. These sessions provided critical skills and knowledge, helping attendees improve their financial stability and take steps toward long-term success. - Community Partnerships
We strengthened our partnerships with local organizations and businesses, furthering our ability to provide resources and support. Notably, our collaborations with No Veteran Left Behind and Bridging Communities played a key role in delivering resources to those who needed them most. - Volunteer Engagement
Our dedicated volunteers played a crucial role in every initiative. From assisting at events to providing day-to-day support, their contributions were invaluable. We extend our heartfelt thanks to every volunteer who helped make our work possible.
